Nail of the Day: New Years Eve Nails!

I used some of the polishes I got for Christmas to do this nail look!

Here's the finished look.

I started out with OPI's base coat.

Then 2 coats of OPI's Designer De Better on all nails except the ring finger. I only put on one for this nail. I did this because I knew it was going to take several layers of the glitter to get the look I wanted.

Then I added abut 3 coats of OPI's Rainbow Connection to my ring finger. This takes a bit of work because to get an even layer of glitter you have to put the chunks of glitter around a bit.

And then I finished up with a coat of Sally Hansen's Insta-Dry top coat!

Review of products used:
1. I really liked this base coat. I had been using Orly's Rubberized base coat which dries to a tacky finish, this one dries just like a normal polish so it was interesting to try something new.
2. I LOVE Designer De Better! The picture really doesn't do it justice, it is such a unique color. It is also pretty much opaque with just one coat but I used two anyway.
3. Rainbow Connection is GORGEOUS but a huge pain, both to apply and remove. It took me almost an hour scrubbing my two ring fingers with a remover soaked cotton round to remove it but I just saw an awesome video that MissChievous did on YouTube showing a much easier way to remove glitters! You should check it out!
4. I really liked this top coat until just recently. All of a sudden it got really thick, goopey, and stringy on me. I guess I've just had it too long? Either way I am kinda bummed about it because I still had about half of it left.

Would you wear this look?

Nail of the Day: Revlon's Copper Penny

Today's NOTD is Revlon's Copper Penny. I am really into metallics for fall and I love this shade because it's different from the typical silvers and golds.

Here is the top so that you can see the name and number.

Natural light, one coat.

As the name suggests it is a very metallic copper color.

I only have two Revlon nail polishes but they definitely do not disappoint in the formulation department. Just one coat made this color fully opaque and it dried very quickly. Keep in mind that both Revlon shades I have are metallic so I cannot speak for the other finishes. Also I have acrylic nails so I am not the best judge of the staying power since polishes stay on much longer on acrylic nails.

Outfit of the Day: Cute Winter Date Look

I've done a lot of shopping the past couple days as late birthday presents from my grandparents and my parents and I'm super excited about some of the pieces I picked up so I thought I'd share an outfit with you.

So this is the full outfit...Ignore the funny look on my face.

These dark wash skinny jeans are from Forever 21.

The brown faux leather boots are from Target.

This cute "peekaboo" shoulder top is from Charlotte Russe. The tag says it's called "Love Story".

This is a close-up of the neckline, as you can see the floral pattern is made up of tiny little sequin-like pieces.

I chose not to wear a necklace because of the neckline of the top so the only jewelry I wore was this gorgeous bracelet that my boyfriend gave me.

My nail polish is "Silver Screen" by Revlon. On camera it is showing up glittery but in person it just has a nice silver sheen to it.
Lastly, I wore this brown slouchy bag my sister gave me. (Sorry the picture doesn't want to rotate.)

That's it for this cute date night look. I hope you enjoyed it!

Stila Eyeshadow Duo in Borealis

Recently I bought my first Stila eyeshadow duo. I decided to pick this up because of a tutorial that glamourista16 posted on her YouTube channel. She did a tutorial inspired by sapphires as part of her birthstone series. Sapphire happens to be my birthstone and I've always loved it! So when I saw the look she created I really wanted to try it out. I ordered it on Amazon for $6.99 from a seller named Never-eNuff-Makeup. Now onto the pictures.

The duo is called Borealis and I bought it in pan form which looks like this.

Here are the colors swatched with a flash

Over all this is a pretty decent set of shadows, although the pigmentation gives a little to be desired. The lighter shade is very nice with noticeable blue shimmer. The darker of the shades looks gorgeous in the pan but when you swatch it it takes more work to build up than I expected. I will definitely still use this duo but with a name like Stila I expected just a little bit more.
